CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – For more than a decade the Downtown Artists’ Co-op Gallery has hosted juried and non-juried exhibits to bring the works of area artists to the forefront. And from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 7, during First Thursday Art Walk, it will feature the entrants and the winners of its 2014 Regional Juried Art Exposition.
The exhibit is one in which works are juried for cash awards. This year’s jurors are two respected Clarksville artists, Frank Lott and Terri Jordan. Lott is known for his detailed watercolors, particularly those with historic Clarksville landmarks as the subject. Jordan is known for her whimsical paintings of women.
“This event gets bigger every year,” says Leah Foote, one of the DAC members who is organizing the show. “We had 30 pieces brought in for the first day, which is a record.”

It is truly a regional event, Foote says, as it draws in work by artists from Hopkinsville, Kentucky, as well as from Franklin, Hendersonville, Gallatin, Nashville and Waverly in Tennessee.
Awards will be given for Best of Show and first and second place in each category.
The event is free and open to the public and will include light refreshments. The gallery is located at 96 Franklin Street in downtown Clarksville. For questions, call the gallery at 931-552-4747.
