Produced by The Downtown Clarksville Association, First Thursday Art Walk is a free, self-guided tour spanning a 5-block radius that combines visual art, live music, engaging events and more in the heart of Downtown Clarksville.

With 10+ venues, bars and businesses participating each month, the First Thursday Art Walk in Clarksville is the ultimate opportunity to savor and support local creative talent.

The August Art Walk will be held August 1st from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the shops and galleries on Public Square, Franklin Street, and Strawberry Alley. The participating businesses are listed below as well as a description of the work they will be exhibiting and services they will be offering during the event.

Hodgepodge (125 Franklin Street) is happy to host C. J. Powers. CJ Powers has earned several awards for her photographs reflecting the simple moments in time worth remembering and noticing. When described as a photographer, she responds, “I really just take pictures.” She doesn’t have a particular subject matter or style although she does stay loyal to her love for FILM photography. She loves every part of the process from developing the film to exploring new processes and techniques. She never grows tired of the magical feeling of the image appearing after the photo paper is placed in the developer (chemical).

Rogate’s Boutique (115 Franklin Street) Heike Sichterman will be featured at Rogate’s Boutique for the First Thursday Art Walk in August.
Heike Sichterman was born and raised in Germany and has traveled to various countries such as Africa and Spain. She has been in Clarksville since 1998 and graduated from APSU with a Bachelor in psychology and a minor in art.

She said “My jewelry making is self- taught and inspired by my travels as well as love for vintage jewelry. In most of my necklaces I incorporate a vintage item, such as a brooch or earring from the 50′s, 70′s or 80′s and combine it with new beads. This makes every piece a ‘one of a kind’ treasure.”

The Downtown Artists Co-op (96 Franklin Street) is an association of talented local artists and interested patrons dedicated to promoting the visual arts in the Clarksville/Montgomery County area. Steven M. Walker will display his materials reclamation art.
Edward’s Steakhouse (107 Franklin Street)

Edward’s Steakhouse will host local photographer David Smith this month as a part of the First Thursday Art Walk. David Smith is a retired U.S. Army Still Photographer. He arrived in Clarksville in 1976 as a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He later returned to Clarksville with his family after his retirement from the military. He has recently started shooting photographs again, and is the Treasurer of The Clarksville Friends of Photography. Most of his images detail landscapes and scenery, many of which are of the Clarksville area, while others capture the magnificence of Tennessee’s State Parks.
