CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Doughboy statue, a World War I memorial, will undergo repairs after multiple acts of vandalism in recent years.

Once the statue is restored, a decision must be made to either leave it in its current location in downtown Clarksville or move it to Patriots Park on Fort Campbell Blvd.

Deanna McLaughlin, City Councilwoman and member of the Public Arts Commission said if the statue remains in place, security will be added to avoid future vandalism. The Public Arts Commission is gathering information concerning costs for each option.

The full council is expected to make a decision during the May 1 voting session.
