CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. The Clarksville Doughboy statue will likely get a new home when the Tennessee State Veterans Home opens next year.

According to Councilwoman Deanna McLaughlin, the Public Arts Commission recommends moving the statue once it is repaired.

The veteran’s home, set to open next spring, will be located off Fort Campbell Blvd. near the 101st Airborne Parkway. “They are overjoyed at the thought of being the home of the Doughboy,” McLaughlin said.

The Doughboy is a World War I memorial that has been vandalized several times at its current location in front of the transit station on Legion Street.
