Mrs. Dora Virginia Parson Holmes was born September 16, 1917, in Keysburg, Kentucky (Logan County), to the union of Carl and Sallie M. Parson.  She departed this peaceful life at age 105 on Thursday July 13, 2023, at her residence in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Mrs. Holmes was a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksville. Before her advanced age and health challenges, she was a member of the senior choir, Willing Workers and the Lottie Smith Missionary Society.

She was educated in the schools of Logan County, Ky. Dora united in matrimony to Sherlock Holmes, to this union new life was added with the birth of their daughter, Shirley J. Holmes.

Dora was employed for many years as a cherished domestic worker. Her hobbies included: reading her Bible, watching game shows, crossword puzzles and shopping!

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sisters, daughter, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Left to cherish her memories: Eláana Holmes-Talley, devoted granddaughter; Shamáan Talley, great-grandson; nieces/nephews: Jaimi Saunders, Anita Goodwin, Desiree Anderson, Assunta Wesby, Gidgetta Parson, Lisa McLaughlin, Sylvester Saunders, Antonio Saunders, Timothy Saunders, Norman Saunders. Devoted daughters: Eva Lisenby, Teresa Smith; special mention: Anne Yancey-Clark, Susan Finney, Louise Marshall, Michael Talley, Marvin Wilson, Monica Pone, Clarence Kendrick, Edward Anderson, Michael Kendrick, Nathaniel Kendrick and a Host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
