Donnie Ray Burkeen, aged 82, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024, in Clarksville, TN.
He was born on September 13, 1942, in Almo, KY, to Thomas and Nancy Ann (Childress) Burkeen. No stranger to hard work, Donnie is remembered as an accomplished businessman in the vending industry since age 25. He owned and operated three successful vending businesses throughout his career. Back in the day, the CB community knew him best by his noteworthy handle, “Candy Man”. He held the position of president as the founder of the Highland Rim CB club in Springfield, TN. He resided in Mt. Juliet, TN for over 20 years before transitioning to Celina, TN along the river. He was very outgoing and lived a fun-filled life including boating, RVing, and antiquing. His passion for travel flourished during his retirement years where he traveled coast to coast and served as the president of the Music City Winnebago Club. Donnie was well-known for his collections of Jack Daniels memorabilia and vintage cars.
He is survived by his children: Donald (Cynthia) Burkeen, Kimberly (Reggie Guillory) Burkeen, and Dusty (Elizabeth) Gray; four granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Deborah (Crenshaw) Burkeen; brother, Bobby Burkeen; sister, Willadean Kirks; sister, Betty Kirks; and beloved parents.
Donnie’s wishes are to be cremated with no memorial service.
