MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – A suspect in a domestic assault was apprehended Tuesday after a foot pursuit in the Southside area.

The incident began with a call to 911, and deputies responded to a Southside home where doors were open and two small children were inside the home, according to Jamie Dexter, PIO for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

A woman arrived at the home shortly afterward, and deputies noticed she had visible bruising around her eye. She told deputies that Christopher Wasson, 31, assaulted her at the home the day before during an argument, and when she tried to leave, he blocked her way. She said he then threw her phone across the room, strangled her, and picked her up and slammed her onto the ground, according to the arrest warrant.

She said he then strangled her again, leaving her fighting for air, then began to kick the side of her head.

Cpl. Mike King was searching for Wasson in a wooded area near Lock B Road when he heard something and called K9 Deputy Eric Trout and K9 Fuse to the area.

They spotted the suspect, who began to run.

“I told him to stop or I would release my dog, and he just got down and gave up,” Trout said.

Wasson, 31, was charged by Deputy Ethan Moss with aggravated domestic assault, false imprisonment, violation of COR and interference with 911. He is wanted by another state and is being held on $316,000 bond.

The victim was checked by Montgomery County EMS for her injuries.
