Dolores “Dee” (Long) Lombardi, age 87, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Gateway Medical Center after a brief illness.
Dee was born on October 11, 1926 in Akron, Ohio. She is survived by her four children, Barbara White (Ray) of Reno, NV, Tim Lombardi (Donna) of Clarksville, TN, Patrick Lombardi (Corrine) of Scotts Mills, OR, and Teena-Marie Ray of Spruce Grove, Alberta; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, Art Lombardi; her mother, Cleo Long; her father, Fred Long; and three siblings.
Dee was a soldier’s wife for thirty-five years and dedicated her life to her family, the United States Military Community, and the Catholic Faith. She and Art arrived at Camp Campbell in 1950 and returned multiple times throughout his military career. Her last tour of duty at Ft. Campbell was 1974-1978, when she served as wife to the Deputy Post Commander.
Dee will always be remembered by her children as a loving mother, fantastic cook, and talented seamstress. Her friends and family will miss her many stories about life in the military, the places she traveled to, and the people she met along her journey through this life.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 709 Franklin Street, Clarksville, TN 37040. There will be no visitation at Dee’s request. Burial will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West in Hopkinsville, KY.
