CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Residents and staff at Dogwood Bend Senior Living held a parade in honor on CMCSS graduating seniors at their Hillcrest Drive location. Students were greeted by signs, applause and a special certificate honoring their achievement.
As the COVID-19 pandemic has progressed, causing significant changes to everyday life, students and those living in senior care facilities have been some of the most affected.
“It’s been hard. We have been doing our best to keep our seniors morale up because they are not able to see their family members. We have done everything we can to make things as normal as possible,” said Dogwood Bend Healthcare Administrator Ty Woodson.
The people at Dogwood Bend wanted to do something to special, taking some stress off of both groups and providing a safe, positive outlet for interaction. Other local healthcare groups, including Avalon Hospice, AseraCare Hospice, Tennova Home Health and Tennova Hospice provided gift baskets for students as well.
“We just figured that we need a little bit of sunshine, and we would like to make sure we are bringing a little happiness to the seniors that couldn’t graduate,” said Woodson. “And also, for our community, we wanted to let them have a little outside time and recognize these seniors that have graduated.”
