CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The PAWS 4 Pancreatic Cancer Awareness dog walk will take place from 9 a.m. until noon on September 27 at the Liberty Park South Pavilion located at 1188 Cumberland Drive.

All donations and 65 percent of registration fees will go to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, described as “the national organization creating hope in a comprehensive way through research, patient support, community outreach and advocacy for a cure” on the event website. According to PAWS 4 Pancreatic Cancer, pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States with a five-year survival rate of six percent.

Walk activities will include a CCSA Agility Course and Flyball, pet photographers and prizes for top fundraisers. Contests will include the Best in Purple Creative Costume Contest.

Dogs with unruly behavior will be asked to leave the event. All dogs must be kept on leashes at all times, and no flexi leashes are permitted. Maximum leash length is six feet. All dogs must be up to date on rabies shots. Female dogs in heat will not be allowed to participate.

Sponsors for the event include Riverview Inn, Action Tents, Petco, Publix on Madison Street, Active Screen Graphics, Picture Your Photo, Oasis In Home Care and the Animal Hospital.

Participants must be 18 years or older to register with a dog, and minors may walk with adults. Web-walkers can also register, and will have their t-shirts mailed to them. A prize will be awarded to the web-walker with the highest donation.
