The Montgomery County Veterans Coalition proudly announces their bill, HB322, has been signed into law by Gov. Bill Lee.

State Rep. Jason Hodges was the primary sponsor, with Sen. Richard Briggs as co-sponsor. The bill as passed gives Tennessee veteran residents with a 100% disability rating a 50% discount on all lodging in state parks, to include cabins, hotels, and campgrounds.

In 2019, Tennessee was home to more than 460,000 veterans, with 21,000 of them having a 100% disability rating.

“We need to get veterans out and active. Going to state parks is a way for them to be in an environment in which they are comfortable. And with the discount, even veterans on disability can afford to enjoy lodging in a state park, that is also handicap accessible if needed,” says Sherry Pickering, Executive Director of the Montgomery County Veterans Coalition. “This is part of a larger effort to reduce our devastating veteran suicide numbers. The program allows our Tennessee veterans to come to our state parks to reconnect with their families in an environment that promotes peace and tranquility.”
