CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Susan Chapman, Executive Director of Loaves & Fishes in Clarksville-Montgomery County will soon be leaving the organization and is making the move to Nashville for future projects.

Chapman joined the nonprofit group in 2004 as treasurer on the board of directors and then took on the additional duties as director of the organization in 2006. Before Loaves & Fishes Chapman said she also worked with Big Brother Big Sisters of Clarksville.

“We’re a food program and we also distribute food. We work with a lot of different agencies and it’s all volunteer,” said Chapman. She added that she took on the job at Loaves & Fishes because she’s the kind of person who when she sees something that needs to be done, she does it.

“I grew up in a very philanthropic type of family, we were always giving back to the community so that was an easy fit for me to step into. I always feel like somebody needs to help the people that can’t help themselves,” Chapman said.

Loaves & Fishes serves between 150-200 meals daily to the hungry six days a week at their soup kitchen located at 215 Foster St. Loaves and Fishes serves 45,000 to 50,000 meals each year. The organization also has a Food Distribution Center that distributes thousands of pounds of food to over 30 other churches and agencies helping the needy in the community.
