CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – If you bought fireworks to celebrate the New Year, make sure to use them within the times designated by the City of Clarksville.
According to an ordinance made by the city, fireworks can only be used on Dec. 31 between the hours of 6 p.m. and midnight and Jan. 1 between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
The ordinance also states that except for City sponsored events, fireworks cannot be used by the public in city parks at any time, and violators can have their fireworks confiscated and issued a citation.
Those 16 or younger may only possess or use fireworks under supervision of an adult 18 or older.
Police officers will have the authority to issue citations for violations of the fireworks code. Upon a finding that a violation has been committed, the city court will impose a fine of $50 plus court costs.
