CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office celebrated the retirement of one of their Deputies Friday, October 11. Andy Lowery recently retired from the Sheriff’s Office after 12 years of service.

Lowery’s friends and colleagues gathered Friday to share stories, laughs and refreshments at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office as everyone wished him well in his retirement. His fellow Deputies recognized Lowery for his laid-back demeanor, his intimidating stature and his Barry White-esque voice on the radio.

Before becoming a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy he served over 20 years in the military and also worked with the Tennessee State Capitol Police. Everyone at the retirement ceremony agreed Lowery was one of the most professional Deputies they have ever worked with.

Chief Deputy John Smith joked, “You’ve served your country, you’ve served your community, and now it’s time for you to serve your wife,” Smith said. Sheriff John Fuson presented Lowery with a plaque, purchased by his fellow Deputies in patrol and thanked him for his service.

Sheriff Fuson said Lowery was truly the definition of a public servant. “He’s always been a great professional and dedicated person during every shift I’ve ever worked with him. We’re sad to see him go but he’s glad to finally hang it up and enjoy the rest of his life,” Fuson said.

Talking about his retirement Lowery said he was going to miss working with the Sheriff’s Office. “I enjoyed myself and worked with a lot of good people here at the Sheriff’s Office. I enjoyed serving the community and doing what I needed to do out there.” said Lowery.

Lowery added that his plans for retirement are to do what he wants to do and for the most part to do a lot of nothing. He said he was having a good time being retired and he’s not going to get bored because that’s just not in his vocabulary.
