CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The eighth annual Deputy Bubba Johnson Memorial Road Race was held Saturday at Beachaven Vineyards and Winery. There were 113 runners and walkers of all ages who took to International Boulevard for the night time 5K run.

The race is held annually to honor the memory of Johnson, who lost his life in a motor vehicle accident on Jan. 12, 2014, while on duty with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Johnson had previously served with the Montgomery County Emergency Medical Service and Clarksville Police Department.

Jennifer Johnson said she wanted to thank Sheriff John Fuson and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for their support of the race each year to remember her late husband. She also offered special thanks to Deputy Jeffrey Morlock and Deputy James Derico, with the sheriff’s office along with Dan Brinkmeyer with Concerns of Police Survivors for their help putting the event together.

Funds from the race will benefit the families of Tennessee law enforcement personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Awards were given out at the end of the race for first, second, and third place male and female finishers in their age groups along with overall winners for men and women in the event. The Clarksville Running Club was on site to handle the timing of the runners in the 5K race.
