CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office provided booster seat inspections for parents and caregivers Monday at Moore Magnet Elementary School as part of National Child Passenger Safety Week.

School Resource Officer Tim Adair, Sgt. Jimmy Brown, and Sgt. Sue Pender provided hands-on advice and instruction on how to choose the right booster seat and use it correctly. They also provided literature and answered questions regarding booster seat safety.

National Child Passenger Safety week is September 13 – 19, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Every year, thousands of children are tragically injured or killed in car crashes. Vehicle accidents are a leading cause of death for children. Every 34 seconds, one child under age 13 is involved in a crash. Proper use of car seats, booster seats, and seat belts will help reduce the number of deaths and injuries occurring on America’s roads.
