CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Department of Defense is offering a five-ton M923 cargo vehicle up to public auction that has been retrofitted with a special body to be mine and ambush resistant, and counter the threat of high risk situations.

Described as “the perfect truck to get you through the zombie apocalypse,” the truck has been used by Fort Campbell for training troops for specific conditions in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is similar to a MRAP (mine resistant ambush protected) vehicle and was created to offer the same protection as a Caiman MTV vehicle. It is powered by a Cummins 6-cylindar turbo Diesel engine, and is in running condition with an articulated robotic arm attached. It has three cameras with one adjustable camera located on the robotic arm.

The truck is a mockup of a Buffalo MRAP variation and does not contain any armor or bullet-proof windows. It was originally built in 1990 but retrofitted with the special training body in the mid to late 2000s.

No longer needed by the military, the 6×6 truck is now being offered to the public through Defense Department auction site Government Liquidation. The starting bid price is $25.

Bidding for the truck Tuesday, December 3 at 12am ET and closes Thursday, December 5 at 5pm ET.
