FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – Defense Department facilities nationwide are on an elevated level of security according to information posted on the U.S. Department of Defense website. The Pentagon says the increased level of security is not because of a specific terrorist threat.
The force protection level has been raised nationwide from Alpha to Bravo. The website stated that Bravo applies when an increased or more predictable threat of terrorist activity exists which means closer checks of those who enter facilities, increased awareness of personnel at facilities and in some cases more security.
In an email Monday, Director of Public Affairs at Fort Campbell, Robert Jenkins said that visitor and regular Common Access Card holders can expect longer wait times at post entry points and that on-post people can expect an increase in security patrols in cars, in buildings, etc.
