CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Dennis J. Potvin has announced his candidacy for Montgomery County Commission, District 2.
Potvin, who will be running as an independent, has a master’s degree from Austin Peay State University, where one daughter currently attends and the other will attend this fall. Potvin has worked 27 years in manufacturing, and his wife of 23 years, Lisa, works for Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools. Potvin coached girls softball for Clarksville Parks and Recreation, and has donated thousands of dollars to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. along with several other local charities.
Potvin was an Eagle Scout and Congressional nominee to the US Naval Academy. He is also host of the local “Headlines with Denny the Bull” podcast, affiliated with The Joe Padula Show.
Potvin ran for Tennessee General Assembly in 2018, garnering nearly 9,000 votes in a loss to Rep. Curtis Johnson.
Potvin wants to put a limit on what he calls “out of control building” in Clarksville. “We don’t need to pave over every farm, blast every rock wall and chop down every tree in order to turn our beautiful county into a slab of concrete,” Potvin said. “Somebody needs to be the voice of restraint. Someone needs to stop these folks from paving over the entire county.”
“I support our public schools, our local state colleges, and the fact that our kids need to be in school,” he said. “We support Montgomery County and I hope that the voters of District 2 will support me this summer.”
District 2 covers parts of St. Bethlehem and Sango, on both sides of the Red River, and both sides of Interstate 24, stretching roughly from Dunbar Cave Road to the Memorial Drive area.
