WASHINGTON – Defense Secretary Ash Carter released a list of new of reforms focused on improving the quality of life of military parents.
Among the benefits are paid maternity leave of 12 weeks, extended paternity leave, expanded adoption leave, longer childcare center hours, installation of mothers’ rooms, and egg and sperm cryopreservation.
Parents will also now have the option of choosing to remain at a duty station to serve the best interests of the family.
