CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A new bill in the Legislature could legalize the use of deadly force in defense of property by Tennesseans.
Rep. Jay Reedy, R-Erin, told Clarksville Now his bill is largely influenced by gun laws in Texas, which are more permissive. He said the bill remains in the early stages of development, but opponents have argued deadly force isn’t called for in property crimes.
