SEQUATCHIE, Tn (CLARKSVILLENOW) Just north of Chattanooga, TN is one of the newest State Parks in Tennessee, South Cumberland State Park.

It’s a collection of 10 areas in four counties. Some of the points of interest for this park include: Greeter Falls, the trail down Stone Door, Savage Gulf, and Foster Falls.

We took a trip to Foster Falls over the weekend, which is about 2.5 hours (149miles) from Clarksville, TN.

Foster Falls has a gorgeous 60 foot waterfall that is worth visiting during any season of the year. While not an extreme hike, the path is rocky and uneven, so be careful, and beware what waits for you on the climb back up.

There are two directions you can go when hiking at Foster Falls:

  • LEFT – will take you down to the gorge of the waterfall and a stunning view from the walking bridge, with your choice of swimming.
  • RIGHT -will take you around the rim of the gorge, where you will have a nice view from the falls above.

What do pack:

  • Hiking boots
  • Swimsuit (Depending on weather)
  • Towel
  • Water/Food
  • Climbing gear (Hot spot to rock climb)

Camping:

  • 26 campgrounds to choose from – to make reservations visit TN State Parks
