Update, 3 p.m: Michael T. Hunter is accused of forcing an 11-year-old girl to have sexual contact with him on numerous occasions, according to court records obtained by Clarksville Now.

Hunter is a Clarksville resident, according to those records, and the case stems from a referral made by the Department of Children’s Services.

Update, 2:50 p.m: Davidson County Sheriff’s Office has issued a statement that Michael T. Hunter has resigned effective immediately.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Davidson County Sheriff’s Office employee was arrested in Clarksville on Saturday and charged with aggravated sexual battery.

Michael Thomas Hunter, 42, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on Sept. 12.

Hunter has been employed with DCSO for 15 years, according to a sheriff’s office news release. He works as a booking processor at the Downtown Detention Center in Nashville, and as a result of the arrest, he is on administrative leave.

No details on the charges were immediately available.
