CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – David Johnson has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination to the Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board in District 2.
A lifelong resident of Clarksville, Johnson, a supervisor at LG Electronics, attended Sango Elementary School and was the first class that attended Rossview Middle and High School from their inception. Graduating with honors from Rossview High in 2005, Johnson was the school’s first wrestling state champion.
Johnson attended King College, studying Business Management with a minor in Coaching. A devoted member of Faith Outreach Church, he has actively engaged in community service, serving as the head coach for the Rossview Middle School Wrestling Club for the last three years and as an assistant coach for the Clarksville High Girls Wrestling team, Team Clarksville Wrestling Club, and Mayhem Youth Club.
Residing in the Greenland Farms neighborhood, Johnson and his wife Jessica have five children, with another expected in March.
“As a local, I’ve witnessed firsthand the growth of Clarksville over the last 30 years. My children have exclusively attended schools in Clarksville-Montgomery County, giving me an intimate understanding of both the strengths and challenges within our educational system. I believe I am well-positioned to represent and empathize with the concerns of other parents in our community. We need a steady hand to manage the chaos that our growth has caused, and I have been training for this my entire life. As the oldest of seven and a father of five, managing daily responsibilities is second nature to me. Two of my brothers also serve the community as a local teacher and police officer.”
Johnson identifies three key pillars of his campaign: parental rights, transparency and fiscal responsibility. Advocating for improved compensation and retention for teachers, he emphasizes the need for a more thorough examination of the budget to enhance the support for these educational heroes.
