David Howard Heflin, age 67 of Clarksville, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 while jogging at Liberty Park in Clarksville, TN.
He was born in Clarksville the son of the late Rex Heflin and Gladys Melton Cooley, on July 30, 1955. He was preceded in death by one brother, Mike Heflin.
He is survived by his siblings, Bonnie Carole Yarbrough (Dennis Rice) of Clarksville, TN; Wayne (Carol) Heflin of Dickson, TN; and Tommy (Brenda) Heflin of Hermitage, TN; seven nieces and nephews, Terry Yarbrough, Veleka Yarbrough, Shannon Heflin, Shonda Heflin, Bronson Heflin, Chris Heflin and Kathrynn Scaminaci; seven great nieces and nephews, Lauren, Corbin, Farrin, McKinna, Kinzie, Jaxton, Willow, Tegan and Rialynn; and other family members.
David was a graduate of Northwest High School where he excelled in wrestling. He went on to attend Austin Peay State University where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha (Pike) Fraternity. He was an avid runner and worked out daily at the Clarksville Athletic Club. David also competed in several Mr. Tennessee Bodybuilders contests over several years. He worked for J.B. Hunt trucking company and later for the Beach Oil Company in Clarksville. In his later years, he became an entrepreneur in buying and selling used vehicles. His favorite hobbies were astronomy and astrology in which he was regarded as an expert in the fields.
A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home with Rev. James Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour on Thursday.
