CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville mayor candidate David Allen is outpacing incumbent Mayor Joe Pitts when it comes to fundraising for the Nov. 8 Tennessee State General and City of Clarksville Election.

According to campaign donations inspected by Clarksville Now, Allen raised a total of $19,822 between Oct. 1 and Oct. 29. Most of those dollars came from unitemized contributions, which are donations of $100 or less from each source.

In comparison, Pitts raised $15,478. The top contributor was Gresham Smith PAC, which donated $3,000 to Pitts’ campaign.

“I am grateful for every contribution I have received,” Pitts told Clarksville Now.

As of Nov. 2, candidate A.C. Lopez had not filed his report.

“If a candidate has spent over $1,000 on a campaign, they are required to file. We have not yet received his (Lopez’s) report. We have notified him that it was due on Nov 1, but not yet heard back from him,” said Elizabeth Black, Administrator of Elections for Montgomery County.

The Elections Office later contacted Clarksville Now with the report, which was received on Nov. 3. Lopez received $250 towards his campaign, according to the report, but the contributions were not itemized.

Lopez told Clarksville Now he was at home sick with the flu during the time the report was due.

Clarksville Now has reached out to Allen for comment.
