CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The daughter of an elderly couple involved in a Christmas Day crash in Clarksville is asking the community to support her family in their time of need.

69-year-old Martha Brashear and her passenger, 75-year-old William Brashear were seriously injured in the head-on collision Christmas morning on Ashland City Rd.

A 2015 Volkswagen Passat traveling west on Ashland City Rd. driven by 64-year-old Phillip Piccione of Woodlawn, TN collided with their 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor traveling east.

Piccione was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Brashears are currently in the Intensive Care Unit at Vanderbilt Medical Center, according to their daughter, Tina Brashear Dachtler.

“We didn’t think either one of them would leave, but each day they keep improving,” Tina told ClarksvilleNow.com.

She said they are both conscious but have multiple injuries, including broken ribs. Mr. Brashear is also fighting stage four lung cancer on top of his other complications.

Tina hopes to reach out to two witnesses at the scene: a retired firefighter and his wife. She said they stopped at the scene of the crash and sat with her parents, holding their hands and comforting them while they waited for help to arrive.

She believes the retired firefighter is a 35-year veteran of a local department, but did not catch his or his wife’s names. She hopes to locate them to thank them for their assistance and compassion.

“They’ve done so much and mama remembers them talking to her and praying with her,” Tina said.

Tina Brashear also asks the Clarksville community to pray for her parents’ recovery.

She would also like to thank all the first responders who were there that day.

Anyone who can identity the witnesses can contact Tina Brashear Dachtler on Facebook.
