CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Dates have officially been set for upcoming elections to fill the State Senate seat in District 22 recently vacated by Mark Green.

On March 7, special primaries will be held for both political parties and a general election will take place April 23, according to Montgomery County Administrator of Elections Elizabeth Black.

Anyone interested in qualifying for their party’s primary must register by Thursday, Jan. 24 at noon.

The Montgomery County Commission, by law, will vote to appoint a qualified resident of Tennessee’s 22nd State Senate District to fill the vacant position until the special election is held. Twelve nominees have currently signed up, and the commissioners will vote Jan. 14.

The District 22 State Senate seat represents constituents in Montgomery, Houston, and Stewart counties.
