CLARKSVILLE Tenn. – Dunbar Cave’s annual Cooling at the Cave event will be held Saturday, July 26 from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, sponsored by Friends of Dunbar Cave.
Guest can enjoy music, games, and refreshments at the cool cave entrance.
Prior to the widespread use of air conditioning, locals would gather at Dunbar Cave for concerts and to enjoy the cool air blowing from the mouth of the cave.
For years, the Friends group has put on Cooling at the Cave to recreate this atmosphere. This year is no exception. As usually home baked goodies and drinks will be available. Tables, chairs, and games will be provided, but visitors are encouraged to bring their own as well.
The Cumberland Winds Jazz Project, whose sound is enhanced by the cave’s acoustics, will perform dance music.
This event is highly attended and parking is limited, so overflow parking will be set up at Dunbar Cave Baptist Church and at the Swan Lake Sports Complex. Allen Fenoseff, Park Manager, will provide shuttle service between the two locations and the park.
All ages are welcome and admission is free (donations encouraged, T-shirts and postcards available to purchase).
