CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Downtown Artists Co-op, located at 96 Franklin St. in downtown Clarksville, will host a reception for the Regional Juried Photography Exposition beginning at 5 p.m. the evening of Thursday, February 6. The Exposition will open at the Downtown Artists Co-op Thursday, February 6 in conjunction with the First Thursday Artwalk.
The competition, which was open to residents of Tennessee and Kentucky, drew 36 photographers who submitted 93 photographs to be juried for cash awards and certificates of achievement.
Jurors were Keely Moore and Tony Aldridge, both from Nashville, Tennessee. Moore has won multiple awards for her watercolor paintings. She has also worked as a freelance illustrator for over 22 years. Aldridge has been a professional photographer for over 40 years, having work featured in many national publications.
The jurors spent almost three hours at DAC the afternoon of February 2 reviewing, comparing and analyzing the photographs to determine which photo would receive awards and recognition. The jurors compared the finer points of technical expertise, artistic expression and presentation amongst the photographs. Several of the pieces received almost identical scores from the jurors.
The jurors selected the Best of Show award, as well as the First and Second Place winners in each of the four categories of landscape and nature, portrait and figure, still life, and experimental and alternative process. The jurors also awarded several Honorable Mention awards to photographs that did not win cash awards but appeared to deserve recognition.
Awards were sponsored by Michelle Dickerson of Planters Bank, Carolyn Pearce of Regions Bank, and Frank Lott of BLF Marketing.
