Customs House Museum celebrates Bond, James Bond in ‘Live and Let Fly’ fundraiser

With a secret agent theme Customs House museum & Cultural Center held their annual Flying High Fundraiser, Live and Let Fly Saturday.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – With a secret agent theme based on the 007 James Bond movies, the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center hosted its 38th Flying High fundraising gala on Saturday.

More than 470 guests and supporters of the Customs House Museum attended “Live and Let Fly” at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming and Hotel.

The final tally of the fundraiser for the museum was not available Saturday night, but Museum Executive Director Frank Lott said they expect the event to raise more than $175,000 for the many programs and activities. Live and Let Fly featured both a silent and live auction with a watercolor painting from artist Kitty Harvill being the Signature Artist piece of the evening.

The painting, “Peg’s Pony,” represents the Postmaster’s Office of the Clarksville U.S. Post Office and Customs House, built in 1898, and was inspired by a black-and-white photograph from the museum’s archives. Kitty Harvill’s mother, Peg Harvill, was a Flying High Signature Artist a dozen times, including for the gala’s first 10 years.
