The 506th Regiment, Currahee, has a long distinguished history of service to the nation and was made even more famous in the movie Saving Private Ryan and also on TV’s Band of Brothers. Soldiers with the 506th have served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.

John Lally, Chairman of the Board and Acting President of the association said they are a group of veterans of all eras from the 506th that takes a lot of pride in the services they offer to active duty soldiers, veterans and their families.

Lally added they have been very busy providing support to soldiers overseas who are deployed, to their families back home, hospital visits and unfortunately funeral visits. The association also offers four $1,000 scholarships each year to the children of Currahee’s or Currahee’s themselves.

The 4th Brigade Combat Team, 506th Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) was in-activated at Fort Campbell in 2014 as part of the Army’s force reduction and reorganization strategy.
