MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Montgomery Central High School Baseball Team will be hosting a dinner on Saturday, February 1. MCHS alum and pitcher for the Chicago Cubs Alec Mills will be attending the event as a special guest speaker.
Mills made his MLB debut with the Kansas City Royals on May 18, 2016. The Royals traded him to Chicago a year later for Donnie Dewees. Mills was called up on August 24, 2018 to start his first Major League game against the Cincinnati Reds. In 2019, the 27 year old right hander maintained an earned run average of 2.75 (3.77 career) with 42 strikeouts (69 overall).
Despite his career taking him across the country, Clarksville remains home for Mills, and MCHS remains an important part of his life.
“I was born and raised in Clarksville and still live there,” Mills said in a 2019 interview. “I love the place. Of course, it’s all I know, but I always have to thank my family for everything about me. They raised me and showed me how to be a good person.”
The fundraiser dinner will be held February 1 at 5 p.m in the MCHS Cafeteria. Tickets are $25. All proceeds from the event will go toward needed improvements to MCHS’s Baseball field and Complex.
