CLARKSVILLE, TN – Local Cub Scout Pack 185 is using golden yard flamingos to raise awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September.

On Sunday, Aug. 17, Scouts spray-painted flamingos gold and created a yard sign to explain the project. The initiative is especially meaningful for the pack, as it supports one of their own members who has been battling cancer for nearly six years.

Throughout September, the Scouts will place the golden flamingo flocks in yards across the community. Residents who are “flocked” will be encouraged to pass the flamingos along to others, spreading awareness and positivity.

Each flock is numbered for a specific Scouts, and families are asked to take photos and email them so the Scouts can see where their flock has traveled. Participants will also earn a specially designed patch for their efforts.
