CSM (Ret) William C. Wright Jr., 87 of Clarksville, TN., passed away at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. on Saturday, February 10, 2018.
A celebration of life will be at 2p.m. Saturday, February17,2018 at Sykes Funeral Home. Full Army Honors will be rendered at Rest-Haven Memorial Gardens at 3p.m. Wright’s family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. at Sykes.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Evelyn C. Wright.
He was born in Quincy, Massachusetts and was the third of four children to William and Bessie-Evelyn Wright.
He leaves behind a sister, Bess Renahan(Rich) and a legacy of children whom he loved: Evelyn Kaiser(David), Debora Evans, William C. Wright III (Robin), Sharon Perry (Dwight), Wayne Wright (Paige) and Michael Wright(Julie). and Grandchildren Carleigh Evans, Brittany Kaiser, Will Wright, Natalie Kaiser, Evelyn Perry, D.J.Perry, Carter Wright, Reagan Wright, Ava Wright, Reece Wright and Ryland Wright.
He served as Command Sergeant Major of infantry operations and intelligence specialist. He was awarded a Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal ,Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Valorous Unit Award, Republic of Vietnam Medal, Master Parachutist Badge , 5 Overseas Service Bars, Army Occupational Medal( Japan), Korean Service Medal W/3 Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, 4 Campaign Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and SIG REE CitationW/ Cluster.
He then graduated from Austin Peay State University with a Masters +45 in Education and Administration. He taught for 15 years at Ft. Campbell High School.
He was known for his kindness and generosity.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
