Crystallie Cowell Allen 90, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 at her daughter’s residence in Cookeville, TN.

She was born on June 14, 1923 in Camden, TN to the late Granville Cowell and Mary Annice McIver Cowell.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Dr. Felts Dent officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2014 and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Monday, June 2, 2014 at the funeral home.

Crystallie was retired from Ft. Campbell as a supervisor of civilian personnel. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Clarksville. She was President of the Library Board and Federated Women’s Club. She was also a member of the Zoning Appeals Board and a supporter of local politics. She was an avid bridge player, belonging to numerous bridge clubs. She was married to the late Richard Allen for 53 years.

Crystallie is survived by two daughters, Jane (George) Lyon of Nashville, TN and Nancy Martin of Cookeville, TN; and four grandchildren, Betsy Grizzard, Tom Grizzard, Madilynn Martin, and Suzannah Martin.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Pennington, Kenneth Cowell, Johnny Piper, Don Trotter, Gaines Hunt, and Jared Vienneau. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Creek and Zoot Parker.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clarksville Public Library for the purchase of books, 350 Pageant Lane, Clarksville, TN 37040.
