CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A crash involving multiple vehicles caused traffic issues in downtown Clarksville Friday just before noon.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Riverside Dr. and College Street. Clarksville police said the crash sent five men to the hospital.

An F-450 truck driven by a 31-year-old man was traveling south on Riverside Drive through a work area and, for an unknown reason, did not stay in the path of the work zone and crashed into a patrol car, continued onward, hit two work lifts with two men on each one, and came to rest.

Two men were transported by Lifeflight to Nashville, and three others were taken by ambulance to Tennova Medical Center.

The investigation is ongoing.

Expect road closures for an extended period of time. Avoid the area and find alternate routes. The following closures are in place as of noon:

Riverside Dr. at Jefferson Street
Riverside Dr. at Main Street
College Street at Spring Street
