HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – A crash involving a school bus and a salt truck was reported Tuesday afternoon near the TN/KY state line on I-24 westbound at mm 93.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said the westbound lanes are blocked at this time.

Early reports indicated a Kentucky Department of Highways brine truck was heading westbound on I-24 near the Kentucky Welcome Center when it was struck in the rear by an empty school bus being transported cross-country.

Both drivers have been transported to the hospital.

Westbound traffic was blocked at the site as of 5 p.m. and is expected to remain blocked for up to three hours.

Westbound traffic should take I-24 Tennessee Exit 4 or Exit 1 at Clarksville and seek a connection to US 41-Alternate to return to I-24 at the Hopkinsville-Ft. Campbell Exit 86.

Drivers should avoid the area if possible.
