CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville police are on the lookout for suspects involved in a hit and run crash at The Youth Academy Day Care on 901 Professional Park Dr.

According to police, the crash occurred Friday night at around 11:00 pm. Witnesses said a silver 2004 Ford F250 pickup truck was traveling east on Professional Park Dr. when it abruptly drove into the parking lot, running over the curbs. Witnesses said the vehicle then traveled through the parking lot and drove completely into one of the Youth Academy buildings.

There were reportedly three individuals in the truck who got out and fled in a silver Dodge Charger. A third suspect ran on foot into nearby woods. One of the occupants left a green sweatshirt in the middle of a field that contained car keys and a cell phone charger.

Police arrested Thomas Sexton, 27, of Clarksville in connection with the crash. He was charged with fleeing the scene of an accident.

Niesha Bonner, an employee of the Youth Academy, told investigators she was working with the copy machine when she saw headlights coming straight at her and she ran in the other room to avoid being struck. There were two small children 15 feet away from where the truck finally stopped in the middle of the building.

Both the truck and the building were severely damaged. No children or employees were injured.
