CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Police Department is warning the public about the risks of leaving vehicles unlocked, especially during the holiday season.

Officer Natalie Hall said several vehicle burglaries have occurred recently, and in many cases valuable items were stolen.

Hall said burglars target unlocked vehicles because the crime takes less time and usually goes undetected or has no signs of forced entry.

If valuable items must remain in vehicles, they should be placed out of sight in a locked trunk or compartment, underneath seats, or concealed under coats or covers. Items should never be left in plain sight.
