CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville Police Department’s Sgt. Cory Coleman was presented the Lifesaver Award by Chief David Crockarell for his actions during the early morning hours of July 5, 2020.

Coleman responded to the area of Mike’s Bar and Grill for a “Shooting in Progress” call. Upon arrival at the chaotic scene, he quickly located the suspect who had sustained a gunshot wound to his right forearm. The suspect had fired into the crowd outside of the bar and an off-duty officer, from a neighboring agency, returned fire striking the suspect in the arm.

Coleman applied a tourniquet to the suspect’s arm and calmed him until medics with EMS arrived. He was transported to Tennova Healthcare Clarksville and later to Skyline Medical Center because of the severity of his injuries.

Coleman’s actions bring great credit to himself, the Clarksville Police Department, and to the citizens of Clarksville.
