CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – On September 12, 2014, Officer Brett Wiessing was presented with the Lifesaving Award.

On July 11, 2014, Officer Wiessing responded to an address on Norris Drive where he located a female stabbing victim lying on the ground, who was unresponsive, not breathing, and had no pulse. Officer Wiessing performed CPR on the female until she was breathing and regained consciousness. Officer Wiessing kept the female calm and talking until the arrival of first responders.

The victim was soon flown to Vanderbilt Hospital where she was diagnosed with a stab wound to the heart. The EMS supervisor stated that Officer Wiessing’s rapid assessment of the situation and initiation of CPR maintained blood flow to vital organs as evidenced by the return of spontaneous circulation.

Officer Wiessing is a credit to District One, the Clarksville Police Department, and the City of Clarksville.
