CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Detective Debra Kolofsky was selected to receive the 2016 Top Computer Forensic Examiner by the National Computer Forensic Institute (NCFI).
The NCFI is a federally funded training center dedicated to instructing state and local officials in digital evidence and cyber crime investigations. It is run by the United States Secret Service’s Criminal Investigative Division and the Alabama Office of Prosecutions Services.
In today’s high tech world, law enforcement encounters new challenges everyday as cyber criminals exploit computers, mobile devices, and the internet to commit crimes. Digital technology is being used to commit virtually every crime imaginable. So, the necessity for law enforcement to stay current on new technology is not only necessary, but essential.
In 2012, Detective Kolofsky completed training as a Mobile Data Device examiner. She received training and hands-on experience with a wide range of mobile devices which encompasses mobile devices such as cell phones, GPS units, and tablets. She received training on the utilization of forensics analysis tools, legal issues, report generation for law enforcement, and techniques used during investigations involving digital evidence combined with traditional investigative techniques.
Detective Kolofsky is considered a recognized expert in the field of mobile device examinations. She is also ranked top in the nation for the quantity of mobile devices processed and examined. Her work is considered outstanding. These qualities were instrumental in Detective Debra Kolofsky recognition as the 2016 Top Computer Forensic by The National Computer Forensic Institute. Detective Kolofsky was presented the award by Secret Service Special Agent in Charge, Todd Hudson and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Gregory Mays.
