CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Officers with the Clarksville Police Department and Bikers Who Care (BWC) spent much of their Saturday spreading Christmas cheer as they passed out money to Clarksville citizens who were doing some shopping with Christmas just over a week away.
Officers Brandy Marley, Harry Hampton and Natalie Hall were joined by members of BWC as they handed out $100 bill to shoppers at the Walmart in St. Bethlehem, Toys R Us and Target. Along with being very surprised and grateful, some shoppers also became a little emotional when they received their cash.
The McElveen family was one family chosen to receive $100. “It helps us a lot especially when you’re tight on money and you have a lot of bills to pay, so a little extra money helps go a long way for Christmas, said Elizabeth McElveen, who was shopping with her husband and daughter.
The money, donated to the police department, from Bikers Who Care came from a number of fundraising events throughout the year which supports BWC Children’s Charities including the Leslie W. Watson Memorial Toy Run held in each year September. The organization of motorcycle enthusiasts also sponsor the Dream Factory’s Camp Rainbow, a summer camp for seriously ill children.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office also got into the Christmas spirit by handing out $100 to citizens in the community.
