NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Tennessee Department of Health shared a steep climb in their daily coronavirus update, as an additional 173 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the state in the past 24 hours.

Speculation on how far numbers will continue to go is unclear at this time. Globally. coronavirus cases have surpassed half a million people. Governor Bill Lee confirmed he is working with health officials trying to get a clear understanding of potentials and projections for the state.

“At the end of the day, Tennesseans are going to have to take personal responsibility to protect the lives and the health of their neighbors,” Governor Lee said in a conference. The governor reminded citizens to stay home, and if it is essential to go out, stay at least six-feet from other people.

During Governor Lee’s press briefing Thursday, officials insisted that testing facilities were available across the state. However Dr. Lisa Piercy, Tennessee Health Commissioner encouraged all Tennesseans to contact their primary care provider first before going to a testing facility.
