CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The spread of COVID-19 in Clarksville-Montgomery County appears to be slowing, as active cases have shown a decline for the last three weeks, and 4.8% of the county has received their first dose of the vaccine.
On Monday, Feb. 8, Montgomery County had 966 active cases. That’s about half the active cases from three weeks ago, Monday, Jan. 18, when we had had 2,012.
Last week, the Tennessee Department of Health announced that those 70 and older could begin registering for the vaccine. So far, 13,901 vaccines have been dispensed in Montgomery County, and 1.82% of the county has received both doses, according to data from the vaccine dashboard on TDH’s website.
The Department of Veterans Affairs is offering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to veterans 55 and older or who qualify as high-risk, and they must already be receiving care from the VA. Healthcare workers from the VA will reach out to those veterans receiving care locally through the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System to set up an appointment.
How to get the vaccine
The vaccine registration website for Montgomery County is www.signupgenius.com/go/Montgomery_Priority_List. This website is open only to those 70 years and older and those in 1a1 and 1a2 of the risk-based phases of the priority list from the state.
Tennessee has now set up a call center with the number 866-442-5301 to assist in scheduling appointments, including appointments in Montgomery County.

How to get a free COVID-19 test
Free COVID-19 testing is offered by the Montgomery County Health Department at Civitan Park, 650 Bellamy Lane, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Drive-thru testing is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and self-administered kits are now available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Follow the signs to the drive-up testing site.
