NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Social distancing continues to aid in flattening the curve, with 256 additional cases of COVID-19 reported across the state in the past 24 hours. The state Department of Health confirmed that 2,196 people have recovered from the virus.
Montgomery County reported one additional case in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 102.
Tennessee continues to focus its efforts on testing with 80,896 people being tested for COVID-19 since the beginning of the outbreak.
A total of 135 people, 11 more in just 24 hours, have died from the virus. The majority of fatalities falls in the at-risk population, with 57% of the fatalities in the state residents over 71-years-old.

Davidson and Shelby Counties continue to be the hardest hit by the pandemic.
In Davidson County, Metro Public Health Department has confirmed 1,492 positive cases of COVID-19. A total of 17 COVID-19 related deaths have occurred.
The Shelby County Department of Health has confirmed 1,432 cases with 31 deaths in the county.
Officials have extended local and state Stay at Home orders, restricting residents from engaging in non-essential activities. Health officials warn that lifting social distancing restrictions too soon will throw off progress and overrun healthcare facilities.
