MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett shared an update this week regarding the status of the Downtown Commons and multi-purpose event center, which is in development.
Durrett the county has contracted with Commonwealth Development Group as a project management firm, Convergence Design and Rufus Johnson Associates as lead designers, and Skanska USA as a construction management firm.
This group is tasked with developing the facility, how the facility will work on a site, and the estimated cost of the facility.
“Gathering this information gives us the data we need to develop a funding strategy,” Durrett said.
The mayor also expressed gratitude for a successful ice skating season at the Downtown Commons.
“The Downtown Commons, although not 100 percent open, showed tremendous opportunity with our ice skating rink,” Durrett said. “We had close to 10,000 skaters enjoy the ice and that was with three days of rain, an incomplete site, and temperatures in the single digits for several days. We are thrilled about the grand opening of the entire Downtown Commons in the spring and all the exciting events being planned for our community to enjoy.”
