CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners voted Monday night to appoint Randy Albert as commissioner for District 6, which was vacant following the death of commissioner Arnold Hodges.
Albert was one of five nominees for the seat. He will serve a partial term, with the seat going up for reelection in the fall of 2022.

Albert is a local businessman with ties to real estate. He and his family previously owned Rainbo Skate Center and currently owns both Eastland Green and Pebble Brook Golf Courses. He also raises cattle at his home in District 6.
Prior to the vote, Albert told commissioners he had a lot to learn about politics, but he was prepared for the challenge.
“I know what we need,” Albert told commissioners. “I’m gonna make a lot of mistakes, and probably won’t agree with everyone. But, we need to agree to disagree, and we need to move on. We need to be united for this county. I’m willing to learn. I have a lot to learn. I’m going to try my best.”
District 6 is one of the county’s larger districts geographically, including the Palmyra and Cumberland Heights communities as well as a large part of Cunningham.
Hodges died in April 2021 following a long battle with leukemia. Albert spoke fondly of Hodges in his remarks, saying they had been long-time friends.
“He was a good friend of mine. Many times, he would stop in my yard to talk,” Albert said. “We had many discussions.”
Albert will attend his first meeting as a commissioner on Monday, July 5.
