CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Kelsey Ann Burkhart, a junior at Rossview High School, has been selected for a songwriters showcase thorough the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville.
Her mother, Jessica Burkhart told ClarksvilleNow, “Kelsey has been involved with the songwriters camp at the Hall of Fame’s Taylor Swift Education Center for the past two years and is one of five songwriters selected for “The Acoustic Guitar Project,” sponsored by Taylor guitars.
The project inspires musicians worldwide to write an original song and record it live in one week. No editing is allowed. Musicians then sign the guitar and take a picture with it before being passed on to another city and another group of selected artists.
Kelsey will be joined by her fellow songwriters on Saturday, January 27th performing their original compositions in the Country Music Hall of Fame’s Ford Theater.
In the following ‘teaser’ video, Kelsey describes her song, titled “Free.”
Jessica went on to tell us that Kelsey tried several others instruments before settling on the guitar and credits the music camp with helping her develop as a songwriter. She said they were “shocked and amazed,” when they found out she had been selected.
“Anybody that can write a song with words and music within a week really has a gift and I want her to share that gift.”
